Appleby House & Rabbit Island Huts
Appleby House and Rabbit Island Huts are one of our favorite Nelson wedding venues, we love the central location, the various on-site accommodation options but most importantly from a wedding photographer’s perspective, our favourite feature is that this venue has so many options for both your Wedding Ceremony and Reception and we haven’t even started raving about the sunsets we have witnessed at this venue, your in for a treat!
Wedding Ceremony Options:
We have captured wedding ceremonies at Appleby House and Rabbit Island Huts on numerous occasions, every ceremony is unique and that’s what we love about this venue, you can really make this space your own. We have captured ceremonies in the golden grassed paddocks to the back of the House but also under the metal archway (which looks amazing smothered in florals or foliage) but, the most popular option by far last wedding season has been the purpose-built wooden archway beside the house.
Wedding Reception Options:
As for wedding reception options, the recent addition to Appleby House being the modern barn-like hall is honestly stunning with its whitewashed interior and striking black exterior, it can comfortably accommodate approx 80 people with plenty of wiggle room for dancing and the likes. A lot of couples choose to have their bridal table underneath the accent lights however we have recently captured a wedding where the bridal party table was on the opposite end against the wooden doors and it looked so amazing! The land is very flat so we have also been seeing a lot of our couples having their wedding reception under a marquee or stretch tent on the grounds which honestly looks so gorgeous!
Location:
Appleby House and Rabbit Island Huts are located approx 10 minutes from Richmond and 15 minutes from Nelson Airport. If you have been to Rabbit Island you would have passed by this venue, it is only two minutes drive from Rabbit Island and is surrounded by nothing more than beautiful, unobstructed rural countryside views with Mt Arthur and the Richmond Rangers off in the far distance.
